Steady as She Rose

My newest treat: OPI's Steady As She Rose.

My mom left it on my bed this weekend. She always knows how to make me feel better!

Scenes from the Weekend.

This past weekend I was able to do one of my favorite Fall activities while visiting home: pumpkin picking! The rest of the weekend consisted of hanging out with this sleeping beauty :) I love home.

New Obsession.

OPI DS Coronation and Essie Midnight Cami

This is one of my latest obsessions: nail polish. Because of my current budget, frequent shopping can't really happen, so when I feel the urge to buy something to make me feel good, I buy a new nail polish! (My mom also knows this and left the silver on my bed last time I visited home. She's the best, I swear). I tend to be drawn to dark colors as soon as the cool weather hits so when I saw that navy was the new color floating around the blogosphere, I knew what my weekend treat would be. I've seen a lot of fun designs happening lately too so I decided to try something a little different this time with adding the silver to the tips.

Whatdya think about the color and design?

Fourth of July

My brothers wanted in on the photo-taking.

Jumper: Can't remember! Shoes: UO. Bangles: Walmart. Beaded bracelet: NY & Company.

I know I'm a tad late with posting this outfit from the 4th of July. These last few weeks have been crazy busy (I know that's no excuse, but you'll see in some upcoming posts what I mean!).  Anyway, this was what I wore on the 4th before I headed to a family pool party and BBQ. I'm always one to get festive with my clothes on holidays, and must wear appropriate colors! Also, these shoes were an impulse purchase a few months ago but they've been one of my go-to pairs this summer (and they obviously complete my red-white-and blue).

Outfit Post: This is Me.

Striped top and Coral button-up: Walmart. Skirt: H&M. Shoes: Payless. Bracelet: NY&Company. Necklace: I can't remember (Very old).

A few things:
1.) I love this outfit. It's what I like to call a very "Nicole" outfit. The striped top, the turquoise and the coral together. Just love it.
2.) You might laugh or look down on me...but both of these shirts are from Walmart. YUP, good ole Wally's World. I don't normally shop at Walmart for clothes, but I was passing through a few weeks ago and this coral top caught my eye...and it was $12 (SOLD). Then I saw this striped shirt, and it was only $6 (SOLD again). So basically, I don't discriminate. Sure I like nice things, but honestly I could care less what the label on my clothes says as long as I like it. (Plus I'm a poor 23 year-old trying to move into NYC. The cheaper the better).
3.) Sorry for the poor picture quality. I have no idea why they're so blurry.
4.) Apparently I need some new picture poses that don't involve me looking DOWN (woops)

That's all for now! Happy Monday!

Outfit Post: Giving It a Go

Skirt: Forever21. Tope: NY&Company. Shoes: Boscovs

What to wear to work when the humidity is about 98.76445%? Something as loose and comfy as possible. That's how this outfit appeared.  (Well, and I can't resist wearing new clothes as soon as I buy them...)

I'm working on this whole "take my own outfit posts" thing. Not too sure how I feel about it...or if anyone really cares for that matter. Also, my background is rather boring I know. Perhaps if I decide that taking pictures of my outfits is worth it...I'll grow the kahunas to do it in public. We shall see :)

Retail Therapy.

(Dresses, shorts, belt, and button-up: NY&Company. PJ shorts: Aerie. Shoes: Boscovs)
So let me start by saying I've been having a rough time. I also have the best mom ever. So, when I went home last weekend for some family time my mom knew just how to make me feel better. Cocktails + shopping. My mom and I had some martinis (I highly recommend a Lychee Martini) and then went WILD at the mall. This is just part of the loot that I picked up last weekend.

Retail Therapy: works every time.

P.s. those shoes don't look new because I've worn them everyday this week. Comfiest little sandal wedges ever.

Updates!

So in the spirit of getting back into this blogging thing I've updated by blogroll on the right side. I have MANY obsessions that I read everyday so you should check them out! One of my absolute favorites though is What I Wore. She's absolutely adorable and wears clothes that a real woman would wear everyday (she also has a book coming out soon!)

Also, you might want to Like my FB page for blog post updates!

Playing in the woods.

This is what I do when I'm bored. Get lost in the woods and take pictures--well until a group of middle schoolers stumble upon me. Apparently I was in their "meeting place". Woops. Next time, I'll get lost in a different part of the woods...

Florals.

Hang in there with me...the above is my "tripod". Harsh conditions, I know.

Dress worn as a skirt: American Eagle (many years ago); Shirt: H&M; Heels: UO; Belt: Forever21

So today I'm joining a challenge that I recently discovered on Everybody Everywear. Basically, bloggers vote for a look they want to create in a specific month, and then everyone links their blogs to the site. I thought it was a fun idea, and since I've been trying to branch out into some outfit posts (though I'm still a little hesitant about it...), I decided to go for it this month. Of course, I have no one to take my pictures usually, and less than ideal equipment (as you can see above), but I don't think they turned out half bad. Also...I thought florals would be an easy challenge given that my wardrobe is pretty darn girly. I was wrong. I ended up remixing a little bit and using a dress as a skirt. Also, I waited until this morning to try and get this together. I'll do better next month, I promise :)

Weekend.

Just some photos from a lovely lazy weekend...

Trying out the bright lipstick trend. Not sure if I can pull it off yet...but it sure is fun to try.
Newest obsessions. Smells like peppermint and leaves you tingling. Love.
Look at all of the fun things you can find when spring cleaning! (I forgot I owned all of this)
My mess of a makeup bag that leaves me digging every morning...
Gosh organizing feels oh-so-good.
The Spring color palette i'm loving right now. (added to it with some new purchases).

Feelin Fancy

Shirt: Forever21, Pants: NY&Company, Shoes: Store in Rome, Italy

Hi all,
So...I'm back again with another outfit post since I got some really nice feedback from the last one :) This outfit is from last weekend when I was about to go out at my Alma Mater, SUNY Geneseo for Alumni Weekend! Geneseo is one of my favorite places on earth, and it was so nice to be back some place familiar with all of my friends. I can't wait until I can go back again and pretend i'm still in college.

Colorblocking.

Spring Colorblocking

Spring Colorblocking by N428 featuring platform shoes

Colorblocking makes me happy. Not only do I love love love bright neon colors, but everything about these colors screams happiness and great weather. I've been trying to find some pieces so I too can jump on the colorblocking train, but I have yet to have any success (though there is a certain neon pink skirt at Zara I've been eying...).

Anyway, what do you think? Have you been liking this new colorblocking trend or do you think it's too much?

Here Goes Nothing!

Pants: Forever21, Blouse: H&M, Pumps: Urban Outfitters, Necklace: swiped from Grandma's jewelery box

So, for the last few months I've been reading many, many blogs. They are mostly fashion or outfit blogs, and I've always had the urge to post some of my outfits on this blog too. I know I am no model (by any means), but I think on occasion my outfits can be pretty darn cute! The blogs I  seem to gravitate to lately aren't the ones with models, but with just regular girls anyway (so I thought i'd do the same). So last night with some encouragement from a friend, we decided to snap some pics while we were having drinks on top of the Empire Hotel. (I came straight from work, so please excuse lack of makeup and non-cooperating hair).

Any thoughts? Would you like to see more outfits on this blog?

Apartment Stalking.

Hi all,
So besides stalking fashion blogs daily (well, and wedding ones...), I love looking at home decor and interior design ones as well. Since having my very own apartment to decorate, it's been fun to see what other people do with their very own personal space. A few days ago I stumbled upon http://www.apartmenttherapy.com and was instantly addicted. ESPECIALLY to the "Small/Cool" contest they've got going on. I'm planning on moving into Manhattan (fingers crossed) in a few months when my current lease is up, yet there is one serious thing that makes me scared: SPACE. Everyone keeps warning me that having the 3 closets that I currently have in my apartment is laughable for a NYC apartment. I'm also going to have a roommate...so space will be tight, to say the least. While I'm super nervous about making the transition from having my very own spacious apartment, to a much smaller one with another person in the mix, seeing how these people have decorated their tiny apartments has given me encouragement! Just because it's small doesn't mean it can't be decorated well! Here are some of my favorite inspirations from the contest:
