Pretty Moments

I think this is the definition of a perfect Sunday morning for me.
Fresh air + some camera play
Sparkly baubles always make me happy
I couldn't resist this cute little guy.

Sometimes I find myself getting into funks. Actually, a lot of times I do. This week was definitely one of those weeks. Between the super lousy weather, lack of sun and ridiculously long work week, I found myself wanting to hunker down in my bedroom this weekend and never leave. Saturday I did just that, but Sunday I forced myself to remember some of the simple things in life that I like. Sometimes all it takes to make the days at least a tad bit better are some carbs and caffeine, fresh air, picture-taking  and finding the cute things that you own that make you smile.

Here's to hoping this week goes faster than the last!

BaubleBar Unwrapped

Ok friends, ready for my next obsession?!

Good.

So along the same lines of Warby Parker and Birchbox, another NYC startup that I absolutely LOVE is Baublebar. When you're as social media obsessed as I am, the companies that do an awesome job with it really stand out and get your attention. Plus, they sell lots of sparkly things so it's kind of like a no-brainer here.

Really though folks, Baublebar is crazy awesome. I've been ordering pretty things from them for about the last year, and my stash has officially grown two fold. They have the cutest jewelry that is RIGHT in my budget. I can't get enough.

Beyond following them like a stalker on their FB, Twitter, Instagram and blog (when my friends say I'm addicted to my iPhone, it's no joke),  I'm also hooked to Baublebar because they have such great deals. Their main one being every Friday when they email you a clue, and something on their site is 10 bucks if you find it. I could keep going, but I'm already babbling.

So another super cool thing they've done recently is open up a pop-up store, BaubleBar Unwrapped. I of course ventured there to check out the jewels and spend some money. It's adorable, hot pink everywhere and fun decorations. They also give you some free goodies for visiting, so really there's no reason not to go if you're in NYC.

Ok, now that I have AGAIN become an unofficial PR rep for another company( my CEO called me out on my abnormal brand loyalty the other day. Seriously, when I like something, I REALLY like it. Marketers dream over here).

You should check out Baublebar

p.s. this was my new cameras first outing! Whatdya think?

The Everygirl

So today I wanted to share one of my favorite websites with you all. Since I'm guessing about 99% of people that read this blog are females, I think you're all going to love it as much as I do.

I found this website just as it launched and have been addicted to it ever since. It is full of articles and features for the everyday girl. I think it's especially focused for girls in their twenties who are trying to navigate this crazy post college world and are trying to figure out what to do, and where they belong (like ME. ding ding ding).

They often feature women who love their careers, or who have started their own businesses and have followed their passions. I love the peeks inside these women's homes (I always have apartment envy), and look forward to reading these features every week. It's so interesting reading how these women got to where they are today. My favorite part about every feature however, is the very last question of every interview: What advice would you give to your 23-year-old self?

I absolutely love reading the answers to this question. I'm constantly feeling lost trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing in life, and trying to balance it all, so to read that these amazingly successful women have not only felt the same, but have wise words to give to the rest of us is extremely calming.

In addition to the interviews they have lots of other great content including financial advice for women our age and articles about things that you actually start to need to know! (entertaining must haves, wedding etiquette, wardrobe essentials, etc).

One more reason I decided to mention them is they are celebrating their 1st anniversary this week, and had a call out to readers to share what they love about their site. Obviously  people know when I love something, I LOVE it and am not afraid to spread the word (I'm a marketers dream), so of course I couldn't resist telling them what I thought. Go check out the awesome words, and you might see a blip from yours truly as well :)

Pretty much, go check out The Everygirl.

What do you think? Anyone else a fan of site as well?

Ch-Ch-Changes

Well an exciting thing has happened over here in my world. After years of longing, I FINALLY took the plunge and bought myself a fancy camera. It's like I now have a precious baby, and I love it SO MUCH. I have a ton to learn but so far, so good.

I think it's also going to make this little blog a lot more awesome. I have so many ideas for some great posts :) I hope everyone likes them and I cant wait to see what everyone thinks!

Stay tuned!

Winter Weekend

Oh Nemo. Actually you weren't that bad. In all honesty, snow really doesn't scare me. ESPECIALLY since I no longer have to drive in it. For me, Hurricane Sandy was way more scary, Nemo, not so much. Anyway, it really wasn't all that crazy if you're used to some snow (which considering most of my readers are Upstaters, it ain't no thing). Basically, it just means Central Park was a madhouse on Saturday! All these city people who rarely get to play in snow went buckwild. Every little hill had sledders on it and there were more snowmen than I could count. Overall, it was pretty awesome. We took about a 2 hour walk all through the park and ended up climbing to the top of Belvedere Castle (after a minor incident that involved us getting stuck in a restricted area and jumping a fence. Unfortunately, that was not documented). Anyway, the view at the top was gorgeous. The park was covered in snow, the sun was about to set and the city was right in front of us. Overall, it was one of those days when living in Manhattan was pretty cool.

Hope everyone stayed safe these past few days and had a great weekend!

Latest Obsessions: Lucius

Hi everyone! So something different on the blog today. I constantly find myself discovering things (probably because of my abnormal amount of time spent on the internet), whether it's a song, band, quote or nail polish, and becoming all consuming-ly obsessed with it for a period of time. So, I thought I would share in a new series. Hope that's cool with everyone?

First up: Lucius. I first discovered this band when they opened for the band Milo Greene (another band you should look up if you don't know them). I had been a fan of Milo for a few months when I discovered they were playing at a small venue in NYC a couple of months ago. It was the perfect kind of concert. One where the only people there are the ones that genuinely love the music these guys are playing. It's also the type of venue where I was about 15 ft from the stage but still had room to breathe, which was awesome. But, I digress.

The opening band that night was one I had never heard of, though when the concert was over, I found myself thinking I loved Lucius' set more than the band I had come for. So, I obviously went downstairs, met the band Lucius and bought their "record" (they don't have a full album yet but they do have a small one with about 5 songs). Not only was it one of the best live performances I had EVER seen, but I chatted with them and the girls were super sweet (plus they wear awesome bows for every performance. I was sold right there. Obviously). They're a super cool, very quirky, Brooklyn based band. Below is one of my favorite songs from them, "Turn It Around".

What's also really cool about this band besides their obvious, ridiculous singing talent is how different many of their songs are. They really don't have just one sound. Check out the link to see what I mean. I found a mini "concert" they did for NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert series. You'll see how great they are live.

Also, here's one more great song to check out:

Ok, now that I've become their unoffical PR rep, tell me what you think! Think I should keep sharing my Thursday obsessions? Also, what about Lucius?

*P.S. as I type this post, that first song above "Turn It Around" was just played in the opening of this week's Greys Anatomy. Damn, there goes another one of my favorite secret bands :)

January Glam Bag

Woah ugly still shot above.

Hi everyone!
Back again with some Glam Bag action. I recorded another video showing what I got in January's bag, and after I recorded the video I found the price of everything (below). Figuring out how much actually was in the bag made me a tad bit more excited about it. I guess I really did get my moneys worth, if I was actually going to buy all of those things on my own.

Let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy :)

(sample was 2.5oz so worth about $4.70)

Nailtini Nail Polish in "Bloody Mary": .5oz (full size) $13.00

Josie Maran Argan Oil: .5 oz $14.00
