Absence.

via Pinterest

Hi friends.
Well it happened. This idiot over here didn't make time to get the flu shot and I totally got the flu last week. I've currently been dying in bed for the last 4ish+ days. Man, this thing is brutal. The world hasn't been kidding when they said it was bad this year. It's BAD. Bad enough for me to have a tearful (and by tearful I mean full on hysterical crying) breakdown in the middle of Rite Aid Friday from exhaustion and overall feeling like I wanted to die. It wasn't pretty people. Not pretty at all.

I just wanted to let you know that my blogging pact hasn't already been forgotten and I'm still around. In fact, once I get stay out of bed longer than just to take a shower, I'm excited to start creating a bunch of posts that I've been thinking about (since I've been laying in bed for days and have had plenty of time to think!).

Ok, I'm going to go lay horizontal again. You guys, go drink some orange juice and liberally apply hand sanitizer.

Warby Parkers

Ok. So another NYC based company that I'm in love with...Warby Parker. They're an awesome eyeglasses company where you can get designer frames WITH lenses for $95 bucks. A great part about them is also their home try-on program. You pick 5 frames and they send you trial glasses that you can try-on for five days at home for free.

Now I have glasses but I've been wanting something different and to try out a new style (I blame NYC and everyone's awesome glasses) so I figured this would be perfect. This is my second box of try-ons (I can't commit!), so I obviously need everyone's help!

I know a lot of these look the same, but I've narrowed it down to the few styles I like so HELP! Which pair does everyone like?! (Or do they all look horrible....).

Honesty people. I need some honesty.

Also, sorry about the crappy iPhone pics. Man, I need a camera. Also working on that one.

Ready, Set, VOTE.

DIY: Coasters.

Well hello there.

So, as I'm sure many of you know, I'm obsessed with pinterest. It's like a girly-girls visual heaven. Besides making me wish I had the time to cook every night and the money to buy a whole new wardrobe, one other thing pinterest does is make me want to craft more. While I pin more than I actually DO, there were a few projects that I accomplished this summer when I had some time on my hands.

The first was coasters that I made for our apartment. They were super easy and an awesome personalized touch to any household.

All you need is:
Modpodge
Tiles (I stole some leftover ones from my parents bathroom renovations)
fabric, paper, pictures or something to decorate the tiles with
Felt circles for the bottom of the tiles
High luster lacquer spray

And now....here's how you make them!

Some tips: using fabric (the red and white polka dotted coaster) ended up being the hardest material to deal with. It was hard to get the fabric straight, and I found that the modpodge didn't work the best with it.

The two pictures (the quote and Times Square) are actually pictures I took on my iPhone. There's this awesome app called MoPho where you can order prints of your photos right from your phone. They come in small sizes, one being the perfect size for an average tile! I didn't have to trim or adjust the pictures at all. Perfection. They also ended up being my favorite coasters. Hands down the best material to use for this project. It also makes it even more personalized!

So that's that! Hope you guys enjoy :)

Birchbox and Glam Bag Review!

Hi everyone!

So I decided to try something for the first time...a video! Now, it ended up being insanely long and I'm really sorry about that. I was going to attempt to edit it, but then I didn't know what to edit out so feel free to fast forward....or not watch. Hopefully it's not too boring...or I dont look too awkward :)

Also, wow, I need to cut the word "um" out of my vocabulary. Yikes.

Anyway I'm always telling people about Birchbox because I'm slightly obsessed with this company. It's based in NYC and I have girl crushes on the people that work there. I also reviewed my first Glam Bag! It's another subscription service that I decided to try out.

I do enough talking in the video so I'm going to stop rambling here. Let me know what you think of the video, and if you'd like to see more! It was an exciting Saturday night I had, I know. #partyanimal

Weekend.

Oh weekend. I love you. I can wear flannel all day and night, drink tea, watch marathons of Pretty Little Liars (IM OBSESSED, and have finally caught up. Woah), and spend so much quality time with my bed.

This is what my Friday night and Saturday looked like and It.Was.Awesome.

Now it's Monday. Boo.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and has an even better week!

2013.

I'm BACKKKKKK!
For real this time. I swear. I'm not going to say it's a resolution, because I'm not the best at those (who is?!). Though, I did cross a BIG one off last year (half-marathon completed! woopwoop). Anyway, I've been reading a lot of blogs again in my own blogging absence and have been re-inspired.

I had some big changes in the back half of 2012, so needless to say I'm beyond excited for a new year, and a new slate. Pretty much last year wasn't my best so 2013, I have some big plans for you! This blog is included so I'm beyond excited! I'm also turning the big 2-5 this spring
(insert quarter life crisis here <---), so this year has no choice but to be great.

For anyone who is going to pick up this hobby with me again and read this, I thank you. Though I do it for myself first it's beyond nice to know someone's out there. Missed you!

So for my first post I'm going to leave you with this list of resolutions I found on Pinterest. They're simple, meaningful and all ones that I can't wait to do more of (or less of) in this coming year.

Happy 2013 my friends. I can't wait to do so much with this new year.
